Mission: S4, E1: Discover your destiny
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: 07/02/2015 1800 hrs

Qaza walked into the mess hall of the ship, she was not really hungry, nor was Divi. Isabel basically nagged her to meet a guy. Divi was getting annoyed with all the first dates, that Isabel tried to hook them up on. Isabel's intentions were well. But it was clear, that most guys, did not like the idea of a Tok'Ra as a potential partner in life. Plus with Qaza's troubled past on Seteda, it made it even more difficult.

Isabel was one of their true friends, that excepted them both, for who they were. Which they both appreciated that. But it did not make moments like this, any easier. She wanted Isabel to stop trying to hook her up. She had been doing it for years. But in all that time, Izzy as Qaza referred to call Isabel, had no one as well.

Qaza went over to a table and sat down, waiting for Quinton to arrive. All she knew about him, was he was a military officer, and according to Isabel, a good sport. Whatever that really meant.

Quinton wasn’t particularly fond of blind dates, though this really wasn’t a date, he was nervous because Isabel had sent him because she thought they were well suited and he was certain Qaza had been told the same thing.

Heading into the mess hall, Quinton glanced around and his eyes met a pair of blue eyes with a sort of yellow glow to them. He thought she was beautiful and in the same moment just knew this was her. He headed over to the table.

“Qaza?” He asked her. Quinton hopes he was right and wasn’t in that awkward moment where he was at the wrong table.

"Yes, are you Quinton?" Qaza asked, with a warm smile on her face. He was definitely attractive. But that was only first appearance. She was curious to learn more. She still had her doubts if this would work out. Divi had the same concerns.

“Yes,” Quinton smiled. “I was concerned for a moment I might have picked the wrong table.” He sat down across from her. What did one say in this situation. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting?”

"I just got here." Qaza said, but then as soon as she said that, her eyes glowed yellow for a moment. She noticed that Divi wanted to say something. She hoped Divi would go easy on him. She was still young, and did not understand human interactions. Qaza barely understood the Tau'Ri.

Then Divi spoke in a stronger accent. "What do you mean, you thought you were at the wrong table." Divi asked him. Divi was neither male or female, even though the host, thought of the symbiont as a female. Which Divi just accepted.

Quinton’s eyes widened at the change in her voice, it was as if he was talking to someone totally different. Her eyes and demeanor had changed totally. “What is going on here!” He didn’t answer her question but asked one of his own.”

Divi tried not to laugh, but it was a typical response. The first time anyone heard Divi's voice, they freaked out. "I am Divi the Symbiont inside Qaza. We share Qaza's body." Divi said, expecting him to freak out even more.

“There are two of you?” Quinton sat back in his chair, not sure how he felt about it. “Together. In one body.” It felt stupid but he was trying to wrap himself around this. He had expected a lot of things but never this.

Qaza felt that she needed to speak up, before Quinton went running for the hills. Her eyes glowed back, and her soft voice spoke out. "We have a symbiotic relationship. Yes we are two separate beings. But we both have equal say, and we love as one, we like as one. we become one. It's hard to explain, but its a perfect symbiotic relationship." Qaza said, she expected hearing him say, what most men do. Well if its a perfect relationship, why do you need me? People often did not understand what it was like to be Tok'Ra.

Quinton listened to her speak. He had questions, no doubt she had heard them before. “You say you love as one but are two separate beings? How does that exactly work? Are you both female then and how does a guy know which one he is dating or is it both at the same time?” Quinton didn’t know why he hadn’t gotten up and told her this wasn’t going to work but he wasn’t ready to leave yet.

Qaza could not help but giggle. She tried to be cute about it. But at least he was asking questions. Typically most guys would be defensive, and they would be more defensive. She looked to Quinton then spoke. "Yes we love as one. We share one body, if Divi does not like you, then it would never work. I know its a hard concept to grasp, we think of ourselves as magnanimous creatures, which we can be. But in my case, to ignore Divi would be foolish and wrong. And same for Divi to do to me. It's really not that completed, and yes it takes a bit to get use to it. But being blended, is an incredible experience." Qaza started to ramble on about. She paused for a moment, to allow him time to adsorb it all in.

“Creatures?” Quinton said, not certain he cared for the word but continued on. “Are you both female?”

"The symbiont does not have a particular sex. This makes it easier, for the symbiont to go from body to body. When they need too. But don't worry Quinton, a host can support a symboint for over two hundred years." Qaza said, trying to put Quinton mind at ease. But figuring, she was just making him have more questions.

This was a lot to take in, more than he ever thought for a first meeting. Why wasn’t he just leaving? He had no answer to that. “Why would the symbiont go from body to body and the what happens to the host?” He blinked and his eyes widened again. “Wait a minute did you say two hundred years!”

"Yes, being blended has a lot of benefits. One of them being longer life span for the host. I was skeptical at first too, before my blending with Divi, but I can not imagine a day without Divi in it." Qaza said, with a big smile. She could feel that Divi felt the same way.

“And one day what if Divi decides to leave?” Quinton asked her. “You do realize I do not have a two hundred year lifespan, why would you consider it?”

"Typically the symbiont does not choose to leave the host, is a life time commitment, so basically 200 years, after that the host body naturally dies, and the symbiont goes into a new host. Carrying the memories, the feelings of the former host." Qaza said, trying to explain why a symbiont would leave its host.

Quinton sat for a long moment. “So, if we hit it off and decide to see where this goes, It will essentially be the two of you and then me?” He wasn’t sure how he felt. Their feelings and thoughts would always be mingled and to a certain extent he would be the third person in their relationship, always on the outside. He was still freaking out but a part of him was interested.

Divi wanted to speak, and Qaza eyes glowed. "Typically Tok'Ra date Tok'Ra for that reason. But there is no law forbidding us to date non blended folks. But yes, as a non blended it would be us loving you, if we got into a relationship."

“Kind of like you two are married,” Quinton replied. “And I am the lover.” He said. “Because you two share everything and I am on the outside looking in.”

"More like a three way marriage, imagine if you were blended, then it would it would be a four way marriage." Divi pointed out to him. Divi wanted him to see, this was a big step. Qaza wanted to work them in slowly to the idea.

Qaza felt that she needed to say something. "It's really not that bad, honestly." Qaza said, thinking they just scared him off.

“Three way marriage,” Quinton replied. “Except you two share all your thoughts and feelings and I get what you choose to share.” He paused. “I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t interested in you, well both of you but I need it straight out no more surprises and it seems to me that I need to accept this part. You two have a bond I will never begin to touch.”

"I know its hard to grasp. The idea of being with a person who is blended as we prefer to call it, but it's not so bad. So may I inquire, to why you are interested. I thought for sure, with your questions, that you were not." Qaza asked, with a warm smile on her face.

“I don’t know to be honest.” Quinton replied. “It is a lot to take in. But I find myself not wanting to walk away without at least giving this a chance.” He smiled then. “So if we go on a date, who picks out the clothes?”

"That one is easy for us, we both have similar tastes." Qaza said with a big grin on her face. Divi seemed to like the same things that Qaza liked. They were blended. Did not feel like work, to choose an outfit or co habitat. "I understand its a lot to take in. It was for us too. You see I am Divi's first host. So its been a new experience for the both of us." Qaza said to him.

Qaza eyes glowed, and Divi started to speak. "She speaks the truth, we have similar interests. You need to understand, being a host does not make you loose your own identity, but the host from a symbiont point of view, does open the mind up to new changes, and good blend will slightly change both host and symbiont . To make them compatible. But I assure you, at the corps. We are still the same person we were before the blending. I hope that makes sense." Divi said.

“Like a married couple,” Quinton added. “Some parts change and some stay the same. Which is what I said earlier. I believe in this ability to love but how does this third person not feel left out, you share everything.”

"We dont see it that way, I would say a soulmate or half of one if you will. A host still needs to feel love from another host or non host intetity. A marriage is a bond between two hosts, or non hosts. That union completes the soulmate process, does that make more sense?" Divi asked, hoping he was not more confused.

“So whoever you date will know absolutely everything you two feel, think or know, one hundred percent all the time?” Quinton asked.

"Absolutely not." Divi said.

Qaza knew she needed to step in, and explain Divi's response. "What Divi is trying to say is, dating a Tok'Ra is no different than dating a Tau'Ri girl. Ladies might open up to each other, but a potential soulmate, needs to earn that right. So yes we might keep our feelings to ourselves at first." Qaza started to explain. That was a very question she thought, as she smiled at him.

“I want to do this,” Quinton said quietly. “But a part of me is afraid.” He wasn’t nervous about admitting it. “That either I have feelings and you two decide it isn’t working or I feel like the third wheel. You both will have to give me time to get used to this, take things slowly.”

"That's pretty much how most people start out is it not?" Qaza asked. She could hear Divi agreeing with that sentiment in her mind. "All we can decide is, do we want to try. I know Izzy wants us too, but she is not the one going on a date. We are." Qaza pointed out to him.

Quinton tossed all that they said around in his mind. He weighed the pros and cons, thinking that maybe he was crazy to even consider it. But he was.

“What do you want to do?” Quinton asked. “Are you both interested enough to go on a date or no?”

"Yes we are interested, but were not the ones that need convincing." Qaza said, wishing he could understand what it was like to be blended with a Tok'Ra so he would be more comfortable with it.

“If I needed to be convinced I would be gone,” Quinton replied. “I am only going to know how I feel if we date, just like all new couples do.”

"Are you calling us a couple?" Divi asked, as the eyes shifted yellow for a moment.

“You two and me,” Quinton said. “Yes, I was. Why? Did I commit some bad sin?”

"I can tell you we are both excited. And we have a good feeling about you." Qaza said, feeling the excitement in Divi's child like mind. She was no child, but Qaza herself, considered her a child. Cause she was very young. And in her opinion acted like one.

“So what do you like to do,” Quinton asked her, well it was them. “I mean we can have dinner first but I would like it to be something you want to do as well.”

Qaza thought Divi should respond, so there eyes glowed briefly. "I have not given it any thought, did not think this would be going so well. You are not our first blind date, but you are the first to peak our curiosity." Divi said, with a big grin on her face. "Oh don't worry, we will not always say we, most of the time Qaza likes to talk, and we let her." Divi finished saying.

Quinton shook his head with a laugh. “What do you like to do when you aren’t working?”

"Lately, exploring this ship. We have a lot to learn about it. So many unknown areas." Divi said, with grin. Then her eyes glowed for a moment.

"We like to go on walks, is what she is talking about. And yes, explore the ship. We are both explores." Qaza told Quinton, hoping that helped any confusion.

“Then let’s plan dinner and a walk,” Quinton said with a smile. “When would you like to go.”

"Any time you want too, if you need time to adsorb this, then we can give you time. If you are ready to go, know we are too!" Qaza said, with a warm smile on her face.

“I don’t need time,” Quinton returned. “I am not going to overthink things.”

"Me either, same goes for Divi. I just want to have a nice relaxing walk with a boy I might be interested in." Qaza said, with a grin on her face. "Before we get started, is my rank going to bother you, I am a first lieutenant, after all." She asked, hoping it would not bother him.

“I don’t care about rank,” Quinton shook his head. “That won’t be an issue.” Compared to the rest of this, that was true.

"Glad to hear it." Qaza said, as they continued to talk as the scene fades away.
